HOURS:                         FULL TIME (MONDAY – FRIDAY)


JOB OVERVIEW

The A&C Specialist is crucial in project support, utilizing specialized training and skills to develop essential safety control systems. Key responsibilities encompass the entire development life cycle, including design, procurement, fabrication support, testing, and commissioning of control systems. This role requires a seasoned professional who is a team player, efficient, highly organized, and an effective communicator with a strong focus on people.


PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Design process control systems in combustion safety.

  • Develop PLC and HMI programs, perform commissioning, troubleshooting/testing/debugging of new and existing systems.

  • Create control panel schematics, instrument loop drawings, cable schedules, instrument and I/O lists, instruments data sheets, bill of materials, logic diagrams, cause and effect matrices, process control narratives etc.

  • Maintain a thorough and solid understanding of industrial electrical practices and safety standards.

  • Stay abreast of industry trends, regulations, and best practices to uphold standards of excellence.

  • Embrace continuous learning with a proactive attitude towards extensive training. Show a strong desire and enthusiasm for acquiring knowledge and skills, even beyond your primary field of expertise.

  • Contribute to the engineering design phase, ensuring compliance with relevant codes, standards, and specifications. Coordinate with the Engineering Drafting Department, providing schedules for documentation and drawing deliverables.

  • Foster positive relationships and manage expectations through clear and timely communication.

  • Coordinate with internal teams, fabricators, and external vendors to procure necessary materials, equipment, and services.

  • Domestic and International travel to various sites for equipment commissioning and site service support.


QUALIFICATIONS

  •  Electrical Engineering/Technologist Degree/Diploma from an Accredited Institution (Canadian Accredited).

  •  Eligible for Professional Engineering License in the Province of Ontario (PEO).

  • Eligible to work in Canada.

  • Ability to travel to US and Internationally without restrictions


EXPERIENCE/SKILLS  

•    Highly skilled in the development of logic systems, such as Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC).
•    Proficient in programming ladder logic, function blocks, and sequential function charts.
•    Possess excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.
•    Effective in communication and interpersonal skills, emphasizing collaboration and relationship-building.
•    Knowledgeable about regulatory requirements and safety standards related to combustion systems, including NFPA, CSA, and API.
•    Capable of reviewing and understanding technical specifications in process, electrical, and instrumentation and control system design.
•    Understanding of electrical hazardous area classifications, equipment certifications, markings, and various protection methods.
•    Proficient in interpreting and developing Process and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs), with a solid grasp of these diagrams.
•    Experienced with safety instrumented systems (IEC 61511) and a general understanding of functional safety.
•    Familiar with engineering codes and standards, mainly CSA CEC, NFPA 70, 85, 86.
•    Mature in outlook with the ability to manage engineering responsibilities and frequent customer interactions.
•    Flexible and collaborative, able to work effectively in a dynamic environment.
•    Highly proficient in Autodesk AutoCAD Electrical tools.
•    Skilled in using Microsoft Office Tools such as Word, Excel, and Outlook.
