Project Engineer
LOCATION: HYBRID/BURLINGTON, ONTARIO, CANADA

HOURS: FULL TIME (MONDAY – FRIDAY)
JOB OVERVIEW
The position plays a pivotal role in overseeing the successful execution of engineering projects from inception to completion. The Project Engineer is responsible for coordinating various aspects of project planning, design, implementation, and evaluation. This role requires a blend of technical expertise, organizational, project management skills, and effective communication abilities.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Collaborate with stakeholders to define project objectives, scope, and deliverables.

Develop comprehensive, complex project schedules and budgets.

Prepare regular progress reports, status updates, and presentations for internal and external stakeholders.

Address concerns, negotiate changes, and seek feedback to continuously improve project outcomes.

Stay abreast of industry trends, regulations, and best practices to uphold standards of excellence.

Commit to continuous learning.

Contribute to the engineering design phase, ensuring compliance with relevant codes, standards, and specifications. Coordinate with the Engineering Drafting Department, providing schedules for documentation and drawing deliverables.

Monitor progress, identify deviations from the plan, and implement corrective actions as necessary.

Facilitate regular meetings with project team members to track milestones, resolve issues, and communicate updates.

Serve as the primary point of contact for clients, contractors, and other project stakeholders.

Foster positive relationships and manage expectations through clear and timely communication.

Conduct shop inspections, attend fabrication pre-inspection meetings, generate Inspection and Test Plans (ITPs), and approve Fabricator's QC documentations.

Conduct design and technical calculations as needed for mechanical design, equipment selection, and specification, as directed by the Engineering Leads.

Coordinate with internal teams, fabricators, and external vendors to procure necessary materials, equipment, and services.

Travel to various sites for equipment commissioning and site service support.
QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related field – Mechanical/Process.

Holder of Professional License in the Province of Ontario (PEO).

Proficiency in project management tools and software (e.g., MS Project).

Eligible to work in Canada.
EXPERIENCE/SKILLS
-
Familiarity with the ethical practices and responsibilities associated with being a Professional Engineer.

Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.

Effective communication and interpersonal abilities, with a focus on collaboration and relationship-building.

Familiarity with regulatory requirements, safety standards, related to combustion system such as NFPA, CSA, and API etc.

Ability to prioritize tasks, manage multiple projects simultaneously, and thrive in a fast-paced environment.

Proficiency in interpreting and developing Process and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs), demonstrating a solid understanding of these diagrams. Exposure and understanding of functional safety systems.

Exposure to engineering codes and standards.

Demonstrated maturity in outlook and the ability to handle engineering duties and frequent customer interactions.

Flexibility and a collaborative mindset, capable of functioning effectively in a fast-paced environment.

Utilize Autodesk AutoCAD tools.

Utilize Microsoft Office Tools such as Word, Excel, and Outlook.
